Farm calendar

This month in Indian fields

What's being sown and harvested across India, and what it means for your kitchen.

Seasons as used in Indian agriculture. Exact timing varies by state, crop and the year's monsoon.

October

Kharif harvest · rabi sowing

In the fields

Rice, cotton and soybean are harvested. Fields are prepared and rabi sowing begins.

In the kitchen

Festive cooking uses more ghee. Refill the daily jar from the stock jar rather than opening the big one every day.

Why Desi Nature

Food you can ask questions about

Transparent sourcing

Every reply names the source and batch. If we don't know something, we say so.

Seasonal, not stockpiled

Farm food follows the harvest. We tell you what's available now, not what a catalogue claims.

No unproven claims

No 'organic', 'A2' or health promises without documents for that batch.

Pay only when sure

No cart, no advance payment. You confirm in writing first.

Questions

Before you ask

Straight answers about how ordering works.

How we work
Why are there no prices or a cart?

Supply of farm food changes with the season and the batch. Rather than show stock we may not have, we confirm what is available, its source and its price when you enquire.

Is your ghee organic, A2 or certified?

We only state what we can show for a specific batch. Ask about the batch you are interested in and we will tell you what documentation exists, including the FSSAI licence or registration on the label.

Where do you deliver?

Tell us your pin code in the enquiry and we will confirm whether we can deliver there, and what it costs, before you decide.

How do I pay?

Payment details are shared only after you have confirmed the order in writing. Nothing is charged through this website.

Can I trust the articles?

Every article lists its sources, and we keep health claims out unless they are backed by strong evidence and reviewed. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will correct it.

Tell us what your kitchen needs

We'll reply with what we can supply, where it comes from and what it costs. No obligation.
